A SICK parrot called Scruffy has been stolen - and his owners are in a desperate flap to get him back.
Carol Uprichard and David Culshaw, of Hendon Road, Nelson, are worried that Scruffy, who is on medication after suffering from concussion when he fell from his perch, could become more ill.
"He still needs his medicine," said Carol. "He's very temperamental as well. He's got his own funny ways.
"If he doesn't get his cereal in a morning he makes a right noise."
Scruffy, a two-year-old African Grey who can talk, was taken along with a list of prized possessions when burglars broke into the couple's house.
Carol said: "They took a whole load of things including jewellery, Christmas stuff and the TV. We've given a list as long as my arm to the police, but really all I'm bothered about is Scruffy.
"He doesn't like to be caged. We just let him sit on top of his cage or on his perch.
"We want our parrot back more than anything else."
Carol has put "wanted" posters up in local shop windows in the hope someone might be able to return Scruffy to his home roost.
Anyone with any information about Scruffy can contact Carol and David on 01282 710172.
