Parr Hare & Hounds 34
Shevington Sharks 8 HOUNDS continued their winning run with this comfortable North West Counties Cup success against a workmanlike Shevington side.
The visitors opened the scoring with an unconverted try after an indifferent start by Hounds but gradually the homesters began to get on top and by the interval they led 12-4 with tries by Mark Houghton and Ian Marsh, plus two conversions by the latter.
Early in the second half Houghton scored his second try after good handling, then Ian Sherwood powered over with Marsh goalling to make it 22-4.
The Sharks rallied briefly with a long-range solo try by their scrum-half, but Hounds finished the stronger and further tries by Andy Knapper, Marsh and Mike Bacon completed the scoring.
Solid defence was again the key for Hounds for whom Marsh, scrum-half Mark McMillan and Bacon were outstanding, with Houghton, Paul Proudlove, Mark Corrigan and Ste Hill also to the fore.
