Hoppers failed to come anywhere near last week's performance with a display which had their spectators exasperated long before the end.

An uninspiring first half had seen the lead change hands no less than five times with Hoppers' Rob Smith putting his side in front three times with penalties only to see the visitors hit back with a Peter Jones try and then a brace of penalties from Chris Mann.

Hoppers' best period of the game was the five minutes after the break with their efforts rewarded by the award of a penalty try after their forwards had driven some 20 metres to the Stourbridge line following a clean line out take.

Smith's conversion gave Hoppers a five-point margin but it was all downhill from there.

When John Bleasdale's pass failed to find Michael Lough behind the Hoppers line, Mann was quick to pounce for an unconverted try which brought the side level.

Mistakes littered Hoppers' game with the ball too often lost in the tackle.

As a result Hoppers spent long periods in their own half and paid the penalty as Mann kicked two penalties to give his side two welcome points.

On Saturday, Hoppers travel to Winnington Park for a bottom-of-the-table clash.
