THE man who bangs the drum at Ewood Park is being forced to move around the ground ... because he's too noisy!

Bill Toland has been beating out the rhythms Blackburn Rovers fans sing too in the Blackburn End since March but is now to be moved around to spread the drumming sound. Accrington man Bill, who is assisted in his percussion playing by Dominic Lee and Curtis Bell, set Ewood Park alight towards the end of last season.

But while the club may appreciate his playing, people who sit next to him sometimes don't.

Bill said: "There have been one or two complaints from fans sitting near me, so the club have suggested I start moving seats."

Stadium manager Mel Highmore said: "The drum was only introduced when Sheffield Wednesday played us last season and we wanted something to compete with their band. It obviously worked well because we won 4-0 and the atmosphere towards the end of the season was electric.

"The plan now is to move him around so more people will be able to join in and give everybody a fair crack at hearing the beat. It is only fair."

Mr Highmore added: "A lot of clubs are wary about letting musicians play. However, fans travelling to Manchester United will be able to hear him - he's been invited there by the club."
