POLICE hunting violent robbers who escaped with more than £10,000 from a Penwortham supermarket, have urged witnesses to come forward.
Detectives trying to solve the crime have pieced together the escape route used by the two raiders in a bid to jog people's memories.
They believe someone saw the men, who are possibly linked to two other crimes, as they drove off at high speed on a stolen motorbike from Booths on Millbrook Way, at 5.30pm on Friday (Nov 14).
Their route is thought to have taken them out of Rydal Avenue, across Cop Lane and down Hill Road South.
From there they went along Abbotts Meadow, past the cemetery and Valley Road before abandoning the bike at the Valley Road end of Hurst Grange Park.
During the raid, a security guard was struck over the head as he took takings to a security van.
DC Dave Watkinson, of Penwortham CID, said: "It was very scary for the guard. He was approached from behind, hit over the head with an unknown object and knocked to the ground."
The police helicopter searched the area but the men escaped.
DC Watkinson said: "We believe these men could be responsible for similar incidents in Lytham and Burscough. It's essential we catch them.
"Anyone with any information should contact us on 209641 straight away."
One of the culprits was white, aged 16-19, 5ft 6ins, medium built, with dark hair and dark clothes. His accomplice, the driver, had dark clothes and a red helmet.
