LEIGH RMI more than doubled their tally of home league goals this season when they demolished a disappointing Bamber Bridge.

They won 4-0. But, such was their dominance, they could have had a sack full.

Manager Steve Waywell was happy the way his side attacked after scoring just three goals in previous home league games.

"Once we scored the first goal it took the pressure off and we could have had eight," he said. "We were critcised last week for what I thought was a sound professional job but today we showed that we can do more than just defend."

Waywell singled out two-goal ace Eric Rostron for special praise.

The former Daisy Hill player has forced his way into the side after impressing in the reserves and gave a superb non-stop display.

"Rostron was tremendous," he said. "He gives us another option by making runs from deep and took his goals really well."

Chris Shaw kept his cool in the 26th minute when he intercepted Mark Milligan's back pass to slot the ball home.

Rostron and Shaw both wasted excellent opportunities and the visitors were reduced to 10 men shortly after the break when Paul Ainscough was shown the red card for a late challenge on John Keary.

Two minutes later Leigh rubbed salt into the wounds by going further ahead, Brown slotting the ball through a bewildered defence for the clinical Rostron.

Dave Felgate produced his only save of the game to deny Dave Eaves before Leigh made it three when Graham Hill played a neat one-two for Rostron to crack home his second.

Nine minutes before time ace markman Lee Cryer made no mistake when he crashed the ball home after the keeper had made a great save from Shaw.
