RAIL users are in line for a super Christmas bonus . . .
The traditional Merseyrail festive fare is on offer every Thursday evening - a 60p flat return fare anywhere on Merseyside.
Merseytravel has wrapped up the seasonal fare package to give rail customers Christmas cheer and set the tills ringing in town centres across the region. In December the offer will extend all day every Sunday until Christmas day.
And an extra gift has been arranged with Merseyrail Electrics - a £1 return flat fare will transport people to stations outside of Merseyside as far as Chester, Ellesmere Port and Ormskirk.
The offer means customers can travel from Southport to Chester and back for just £1.
This is the fourth successive yar of the Christmas fare promotion. Last year 136,000 customers took advantage of the festive travel offer.
Merseytravel Chair Mark Dowd said the scheme would both boost the economy and encourage a Christmas cut in congestion and pollution.
He said: "The Christmas Fare will offer people the chance to get out on the town but leave their car queue cares at home.
"With more than 40 Merseyrail stations offering free park and ride facilities, Merseyrail is helping people share in a cleaner and safer town centre Christmas shopping experience for everyone.
"Plus the fare package will help boost Merseyside's economy and bring ore people on board in the change to a more healthy environment and people friendly approach to travel."
