A JUDGE has halted a court battle between a well-known Whitefield lawyer and his former fiancee.
Richard Cornthwaite (46) and 38-year-old ex-model Jeanette Slaven took legal proceedings against each other following the "acrimonious" break-down of their two-year relationship.
But at Bury County Court, Judge Richard Holman ordered that the actions be "staid" before they had even started after Mr Cornthwaite told him an agreement between the parties had already been reached out of court.
Mr Cornthwaite, of Ringley Road, Whitefield, worked for Bolton-based Garstangs law firm and has acted for boxing promoter Frank Warren and defended merchant banker Lord Spens during the Guinness Trial.
He hit the headlines in 1991 when it emerged he had dated Fiona Wright, the former "five times a night" mistress of Burtons boss Sir Ralph Halpern.
