THE Teletubbies are back home! Heartless thieves stole 4ft high cut-out shapes of the lovable BBC television characters from Holyrood Nursery and Pre-School in Bury Old Road, Prestwich.
Youngsters at the nursery, picyured welcoming back their old friends, were understandably upset. But things changed for the better last week when police responded to a tip-off.
Nursery manager Mrs Lynn Blay explained: "Someone rang the nursery and said they had seen the cut-outs in a garden."
Mrs Blay contacted the police and later the same day three officers delighted the children when they brought the Teletubbies back.
Lynn added: "It would seem that someone out there has a conscience.
"The kids gave the police a round of applause when they carried them in and they must have been quite embarrassed."
The giant plywood cut-outs of the TV heroes were slightly damaged and in need of repair but it was not long before they were back on display outside the nursery.
