Folly Lane 16 Thatto Heath 31 HEATH shattered Folly Lane's unbeaten record with a performance full of strong running and determined defence.

The first 10 minutes saw Heath's defence tested to the full before skipper Darren Harris slipped over a drop goal to give his side the edge.

Ten minutes later pacey winger Mike Woods finished off a good Heath move involving five players.

Heath stretched their lead soon after when stand-off Harris made the most of a fine midfield break by Carl Cooper and the supporting Barry Ashall. Full-back Peter Derbyshire added the conversion.

Just before the interval Harris beat three would-be tacklers before feeding the outstanding Phil Southward for a fine try. After the break Folly Lane hit back when full-back Paul Hope finished off a stylish move. Mike Hulme added the conversion.

But straight from the kick-off a crunching tackle by Heath centre Darren Blanchfield shook the ball loose from the home full-back. And four tackles later Heath's Nigel Morris crashed over under the posts.

Derbyshire added the extras and a penalty two minutes later and Heath were in command.

By now Heath's forwards were in control and the impressive Jimmy Waterworth added another four-pointer.

But Folly Lane hit back with an interception try and conversion by Mike Hulme with five minutes to go.

And straight from the kick-off a good passing movement saw Folly score in the corner.

However, Peter Derbyshire had the last word with a last-minute penalty.

Heath's man of the match was loose-forward Phil Southward and he was well supported by Jimmy Waterworth and prop Martin Horton.
