By Nima Yazdani & Harkan Octem THIS week's cub reporters are Nima Yazdani, 10, and Harkan Octem, 10, who have written a comment piece that would give Citizen Smith a run for his money. TO make Lancaster and Morecambe better we think there should be more facilities in playgrounds. The playgrounds should have more than just the odd boring swing for young children. There should also be more appropriate clubs for teenagers and sports areas for people who are more energetic and active. In our area there should be more visible cameras so people know they will be punished if they vandalize things. We also think shop keepers should be more careful about what they give to teenagers like cigarettes and alcoholic drink.

For safety on the roads there should be more routes for transport to help traffic jams.

Also, there should be more traffic lights and zebra/pelican crossings in the right places. For shops there should be metal window covers for when its closing time so people cannot break in and steal all the goods. For people on housing estates there should be better quality windows and doors. We think parents should be given advice on how to keep their children safe at night because there are dangerous people hanging around.

The reason we think there should be more facilities is because children do not have enough to do and we would like the area to be safe for all people.

This can only be achieved by involving the police, schools, local authorities and especially parents and their children. Until this is done we see things getting worse, not better.
