A BLACKPOOL mother-of-three has been voted the North West's best neighbour in a competition to find the nation's most friendly folk.

Tracy Price, of Addison Crescent in Layton, was nominated for her kind and caring acts by grandmother Marian Corry, who lives in the same street.

Now, Tracy and other regional finalists will go into the national finals, the winner of which will win a luxury holiday.

Marian said she put Tracy forward because of her unstinting and selfless help to other neighbours in the street.

She highlighted the way in which Tracy had arranged a street collection for a neighbour and her two children who lost her 32-year-old husband.

And she wrote in to competition organisers, cleaning company Kleeneze, to tell them how Tracy had always helped her when she was ill.

Impressed judges presented Tracy with a plaque and £50 worth of Kleeneze vouchers in recognition of her caring neighbourly spirits.

Marian said: "I suffer from asthma and heart trouble. I do have a home help but she only comes on certain days of the week.

"Whenever I am on my own and need a helping hand Tracy comes by and is always happy to do my shopping or take my grand-daughter to school.

"I think she is wonderful and I am delighted that she has won."

"It is not just my grandchildren she takes, it is children from up and down the street.

"Now I just hope she wins the national final, she deserves a holiday."

Tracy said: "I was shocked. I had no idea I had even been nominated.

"You never realise how appreciated you are until something like this happens. I am very touched."
