LANCASHIRE Hawks could lose Lee Cowmeadow to ice hockey rivals Fife Flyers and the popular player might even ice up against his old club this weekend. Hawks visit the Flyers in Scotland on Sunday!

While Hawks' boss Mike Cockayne would be disappointed to lose the 23 year old, he's already planning a replacement - or two.

Mr Cockayne is racing against the clock to recruit new blood to give Hawks a shot in the arm.

"It would be a great disappointment for us to lose Lee but nothing has been finalised as yet. He's been a very popular player here. But our fans can rest assured that we are working hard to bring in several new players."

Cowmeadow has become something of an Arena hero during two spells.

He first came to Blackburn from Cardiff in 1993 and spent three seasons on the staff before moving to Kingston last season. He returned soon after the start of the current campaign and has played in nearly every senior game since.

Lee could even play his debut for Fife against us on Sunday, which would certainly add some spice to the game to say the least!

Hawks tackle Peterborough Pirates tomorrow (face off 6pm) and Mr Cockayne is confident that after last weekend's double victory Hawks will come out fighting.

"We've all been given quite a boost by last week's double and we'll be able to get our season back on track. Our win over the Great Britain team last Sunday was a terrific confidence booster, as it was over some of the best players this country has to offer.

"We've had an inconsistent season, but we're much better off than we were before last weekend because we've restored some lost pride. Hopefully that will give the lads enough confidence to follow through on the ice."
