A MORECAMBE landlady had a 'golden smile' last week when she walked off with two trophies at the resort's Warmth of Welcome Awards.

Jean McLean, who runs the Lakeland View Guest House, was a double winner picking up the Citizen's 'Best Small Hotel' prize and the Welcome Cup as overall winner in the awards ceremony at the Broadway Hotel.

And, as well as cluttering her mantlepiece with silverware, Jean's collection of prizes included a luxury holiday in Rome.

The Mayor of Lancaster, Cllr Hilda Shuttleworth, presented Jean with the Citizen Trophy for the 'Best Small Hotel' and the secret of success, according to Jean, is to treat the guests as you would like to be treated yourself.

"You have to look after your customers," said Jean, who has run the guest house with her husband for the last ten years.

"I'm absolutely thrilled to bits, people come back to us time and time again because we put ourselves out for them."
