BLACKBURN men are a caring, sharing, group of lads who will do anything for a quiet life. That's the verdict of a new survey from men's magazine FHM and McEwan's lager. David Higgerson, left, took to the streets of Blackburn to find out if the claims are true. ACCORDING to a new survey, the tough image of the Lancashire bloke is becoming less realistic as the man of the 1990s develops a more relaxed nature. In fact, 80 per cent insisted they wouldn't mind if their girlfriend lost a winning lottery ticket, saying love conquers all.
However, more than 83 per cent wouldobject if their landlord tried to change their tipple from lager to cocktails. Only seven per cent are religious; while given the choice between keeping a dog in the house and having sex, 83 per cent opted for the dog .
But what are Blackburn men really like? According to Jeanette Catterall, of Knuzden, they are: "Friendly and nice, but they won't hesitate to stand up for someone if there is trouble."
Blackburn College student Stephanie Malone commented: "A lot of them are quite good looking."
Fellow student Nicola Foster added: "They are funny and charming, too."
Barman Adam Baker, of Roebuck Close, Blackburn, added: "We're a good laugh and get on well with strangers. We're generous and forgiving as well."
Nicola Whelan believed local lads had shed their well-hard image, but "they still have cute bums."
However, her chum Des Broadfield was of a different opinion.
The Accrington lad claimed: "They are all ignorant and bad mannered. Male and female, they are all repulsive."
