Trafford 18 Bold Miners 34 A STRONG team effort saw Miners through this tough encounter.
They were given a flying start when Steve Prole crashed over after only two minutes. Darren Anders added the conversion.
But enterprising rugby earned Trafford two tries and a goal.
Just before half time Ricky Mayor brought Miners back on level terms with a try wide out.
In the second period both teams stepped up the pace and Anders broke the deadlock when he charged down a kick on his own line, regathered and raced 80 metres to score under the posts, allowing himself an easy conversion.
Bold began to take control with further tries from Prole and Mayor and a goal by Anders.
And strong-running centre and Grundys Excavations man of the match Alan Hockenhull rounded off the scoring with a good try and goal.
Outstanding for Bold were Gary Talbot, Wayne Graham, Brian Connaire and Phil Hewitt.
Meanwhile, Miners' rugby committee would like to thank Eric Bourne, Len Lowe, Alan Speakman and Joe Smith for their work in organising their annual dinner of Saturday.
