Pilkington Recs 20 Folly Lane 10 A COMMITTED Recs team collected their first home victory of the season and with it two valuable league points.

Despite heavy going, the match started a a fast pace, with both sides trying to keep the ball alive.

And in the first quarter both sides landed a penalty, Mike Carr kicking the Recs goal.

Veteran scrum half Johnny Smith, making his first appearance of the season, produced a couple of midfield breaks, but lack support both times.

In the 10 minutes before the break Recs piled on the pressure through Nicky Leyland and Mike Carr. And from a Folly Lane error Chris Gearing crashed in for a try.

Just as the City Roaders looked to be heading for an interval lead Folly Lane kept the ball alive on the last tackle and crossed for a converted try.

Three minutes into the second half Pilks regained the lead when full-back Jamie Hill fielded a bomb on his own 20 metre line and went off on a 40-metre weaving run. Two tackles later a deft short ball from Anthony Marsh saw Hill racing under the posts. Carr converted.

Recs were now in charge, but against the run of play Folly kicked a penalty goal.

But 15 minutes from time stand-off Dave Price made a great break and fed Carr, who drew the full-back before sending Dolan under the posts.

Carr added the extras.

Recs went close through Jason Ledger, Price and Leyland before Carr completed the scoring with a penalty.

The Geoff Harrison Transport man of the match was strong-running forward Mike Dennett, with Peter Cahalin, Jamie Hill, Johnny Smith, Mike Carr and Anthony Marsh all doing well.
