NOT for the first time this term, when Brook's expectations of victory were high, the performance was disappointing.
After a great win at Eastwood the previous week, the chance of completing their first Conference League double seemed to be on the cards when they visited Milford - without a victory themselves since September 27.
However, Brook followers left Leeds with an acute sense of frustration after a performance which raised them to high expectations in the opening 40 minutes, then let them down wafter the break.
And the message is pretty clear, they must sharpen up their act if they are to beat the much improved Shaw Cross in the league, and make progress in the Silk Cut Challenge Cup competition in the coming weeks.
Hat-trick hero Justin Grayshon snuffed out Brook's hopes of a forth away win this term by sparking off a 22-point second half scoring burst to bring the homesters six match losing run to an end.
The opening 40 minutes saw strong defence from both sides, with spilled passes and numerous penalties for trivial offences, frequently preventing the chance of continuity.
And the decision to allow the homesters fourth try on 52 minutes to stand after Andy Benson was floored by a high shot immediately after collecting a high ball in spectacular fashion in front of the posts, only added to the visitors frustrations. This score proved to be the turning point. After clinging tenaciously to a 16-12 lead Gary Robb's conversion opened up a 10-point advantage for the homesters at 22-12.
As Blackbrook fell away, Milford showed increased confidence and eventually pulled away from their first division rivals.
There was little to choose between the teams in the first half as the 12-10 interval score line suggests. Milford regained the initiative with a 39th minute try by winger Justin Grayshon - in addition to an earlier try by Damien Mawson and two goals from Gary Robb. Blackbrook responded with a Paul Toole penalty goal and tries by Darren Mitchell and Paul Walker.
Andy Benson levelled the scores after the break with a 43rd minute penalty goal, but a brace of tries from Justin Grayshon and a vital conversion from Gary Robb gave Milford valuable breathing space at 22-12.
Nevertheless, Chris Webber, Ian Buckley, Graeme Cox and Jason Mitchell produced non-stop effort in the visitors' line-up. Gareth Hill was another excellent performer with his darting breaks causing the home defence numerous problems.
But Milford put their own indifferent league form well behind them in the closing stages with a 72nd minute try from Mark Gibson and two goals from Gary Robb, before Mark Butterill exposed the non existent cover on the visitors' left flank with a last-minute try.
Gareth Hill received the Blackbrook and Construction Power Services man of the match accolades.
