POLICE are appealing for information about a vicious assault which left a 45-year-old man needing hospital treatment to remove a blood clot on the brain.
The attack took place at about 10pm on Friday, November 11, as the victim made his way across wasteground from the Newmarket pub in Market Street, Earlestown, to the Wellington in Earle Street.
He was hit from behind with a blunt instrument and had £25 stolen from his pocket.
After he came round the man was suffering from headaches and went to Warrington General Hospital where doctors discovered a blood clot on his brain. He remained in hospital for observation and to have the blood clot removed.
