"THAT was as good as anything we have done, including our championship year," said Preston boss Gary Peters.
"We worked really hard against a good side, it was a team effort - and by that I mean everyone, the players and the supporters.
"Our supporters were magnificent, they stuck with us when we went a goal down early on and their efforts inspired the players to success."
Preston goal hero Lee Ashcroft received his man of the match award and said: "It was a great feeling to see that third one go in.
"I was injured and about to come off, but I cut inside and hit it and I just felt great when it went in."
