UGB Lions 18 Mayfield 24 PLAYING with a full 13 players and four subs for the first time this season, UGB gave a strong Mayfield side a real run for their money.
The visitors were bolstered by several players from their National Conference League side. But the return of Andy Abbott as substitute inspired UG as he insisted on moving the ball wide. They came back from 24-6 down to 24-18 after his introduction and could have gained a share of the spoils had a late chance not gone begging. Try scorers for UGB were Shaun Anders, Miles Canning and Tony Cartwright. The Mel Griffiths man of the match was Derek Hall.
