A BUS stop blunder has enraged Blackmoor people.

A signal scheme to ease a traffic bottleneck at the Princes Avenue/Manchester Road junction resulted in a bus stop being moved.

But residents say nobody told them a bus shelter would be resited in front of their homes.

Angry Lynn Clarke said:"We weren't told it would be positioned right opposite our house. The first we knew was when they put a bus stop across the road from us and now we learn they are going to reposition the shelter.

"They say there is nowhere else to put it, but they should think again. We don't want a shelter full of people staring into our home."

Tyldesley East Cllr Steve Hellier, who campaigned for junction improvements, contacted Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Executive.

He said::"In the interests of safety, both for motorists and pedestrians, I have asked for traffic lights to be installed at the Manchester Road/Princes Avenue junction.

"This was approved at the November highways committee meeting. The scheme will necessitate repositioning the bus stop for which two options were being considered.

"Unfortunately the normal consultation process was not applied to one of those options due to an error at GMPTE for which, to their credit, they have accepted responsibility.

"I understand that there will be reconsideration."

A spokesman for GMPTE said:"The repositioned bus stop outside No 8 Princes Avenue was approved but now we need to consult residents, Police and highways engineers about shelter proposals."
