A TYPICAL display from Blackpool saw them fail to capitalise on a number of good chances against Plymouth on Tuesday night (December 2) at Bloomfield Road.
The lack of finishing up front meant frustration for a side who regularly dominated play and they had to settle for a goalless result.
The Tangerines had an upbeat start with punishing drives down the right wing from Junior Bent.
A brace of corners, taken by Lee Philpott, summed the night up for Blackpool - a string of opportunities but no finish.
His first saw Strong almost put Blackpool in front with an excellent header.
The second corner in as many minutes saw Malkin's header cleared off the line by Jason Rowbotham.
The third corner of Pool's best attacking spell was cleared and two golden chances had been lost.
A Paul Williams run down the left had the Blackpool defence hurrying back before a crunching Bryan tackle slowed the visitors down. Lee Hodges caused the Pool defence a few worries with some fancy footwork through the midfield, but was blocked out by Butler and Strong.
The end of the first half saw some fine passing down the left wing between Philpott and Ellis whose shot posed no problems for Jon Sheffield.
The second half started much the same as the first with intense pressure from Blackpool.
A free kick in the 46 minute gave Strong his second attempt on goal but his powerful header went straight into the arms of Sheffield.
A break from the impressive Corazzin and a wicked deflection tested Banks who made the save look easy.
Lee Hodges entered the fray once again with a useful run and seemed to skip through the midfield.
He unleashed a blistering shot which Banks managed to touch and came off the upright. Hodges constantly caused problems for the Pool defence, who pulled together well on most occasions.
Ormerod's introduction for Malkin in the 73rd minute had an immediate effect, with a wonderful one-two in the box with Bonner, which ultimately fizzled out.
Blackpool fought hard and deserved their point - and would have won with better finishing up front.
