LESLIE Walsh has sent out a Transatlantic Leigh Tech invite.

Fifty-five years ago Leslie was in a boys' class of 25 students at the college.

This month he'll return to Britain from Apollo, in Pennsylvania, USA, and has asked The Journal to help him fulfil a wish to contact some of those friends from far-off days.

He likes to keep in touch with Leigh area news via The Journal on the Internet and tells us he especially enjoys keeping abreast of the Xanadu debate.

Leslie contacted The Journal via the Internet and writes:"It is a common practice in the U.S.A for classmates to have a reunion every five years.

"They share stories and renew friendships; tell each other how 'young' they look, and brag about their families.

"I have attended a few with my wife, Barbara, but usually feel a bit like an outsider since I did not graduate from high school in the US.

"My school was Leigh College, or L.J.T.S. as it was called in 1944.

"There were 25 students in our class from 1942-4. I cannot remember all the names but recall: ? Baxter, Fred Broome, ? Broderick, Sydney Caton, Jim Clarke, Colin Fildes, ? Fox, Ron Gibson, ? Greene, ? Higson, ? Hodson, ? Holmes, Douglas Neal, ? Sayle, ? Smith, ? Stockdale, ?Turley, J.Leslie Walsh, ? Warburton, ? Williams, ? Woods, F. Yates.

"I will be in the Leigh area from December 13 to January 2. Maybe some of the "Old Chums" could have a reunion while I am in town."

Leslie intends visiting the Railway Road 'tech.' during his holiday, or he can be contacted during that time by phone on 01942 894449. Alternatively write to him c/o 1 Cromer Drive, Atherton.
