A 16-year-old student from Preston College was killed in a tragic accident on Monday when a car collided with a motorcyclist at the junction of Garstang Road and Regent Drive in Fulwood.
Salma Coser Khan was a passenger in the front seat of a Rover saloon driven by her 20-year-old sister Jasmin Coser Khan.
They were just yards from her home in East Gate when their car collided with a motorcycle as they tried to turn off the main road into Regent Drive.
Salma died in the Royal Preston Hospital from severe head injuries. Jasmin, of Blackpool Road, suffered minor injuries and shock.
The motorcyclist, 33-year-old Michael Easton from Cock Robin Lane, Catterall, was suffered serious chest injuries.
Salma's devastated brother spoke of the family's pain on Tuesday as they prepared to bury his younger sister. He wept: "She was a beautiful girl." The accident happened at 4.30pm when the area was packed with students leaving college and workers returning home.
Leading fire fighter Bob Bolton said: "The motorbike was embedded in the car."
He said their rescue attempts and the job of clearing the scene were hampered by onlookers. Preston College has put out a warning to students to drive carefully.
