BAMBER Bridge's new manager has fired a warning shot to his players: Talk's cheap, now let's see some action.

Wayne Harrison's fiery words follow Saturday's (November 29) gut-wrenching defeat at the hands of Gainsborough Trinity in the third qualifying round of the Umbro Trophy.

Coupled with their lowly league position in the Unibond League - just four places off the bottom - Wayne has one definite aim.

The former Sheffield Wednesday midfielder told the Citizen in an exclusive interview: "We have to consolidate our place in the league.

"Luckily I have arrived at a club which is well run off the field, and it is my job to make sure the same thing happens on the field." Wayne, who has managed Workington twice and assisted at Lancaster City, said his players were responding well.

"They are positive at the moment. They are clear as to what is expected and want to play.

"But talk is cheap and we need to see some action. The next few weeks are crucial."

Brig return to league action with in two weeks with a tough away trip to third-placed Boston United - a game Wayne thinks will be very good for his team.

"There are no easy games but by playing Boston I will be able to spot our weaknesses and get straight to the problem. I have a week to concentrate on training and sort out some of the weaknesses - such as scoring from more of our chances.

"By the end of this month I should have a good idea of what has to be done and then I can decide if I need new players.

"Ultimately, I want a team that will go all the way and bring the glory days back to Irongate."
