CARE homes are getting away with poor treatment of older people because in some cases it is impossible for them or their relatives to complain, according to Age Concern.
The charity has raised its concerns with the Office of Fair Trading after carrying out its own inquiry.
Age Concern director Sally Greengross said: "Many homes provide good care, but when things go wrong there must be systems for putting them right as quickly as possible."
"Older people and their relatives complain to Age Concern, sometimes because they are too afraid to complain to the home."
