LEIGH RU beat Aldwinians 17-11 in the first round of the Lancashire Trophy.
In a low scoring first half Leigh could only manage a Ross Bullough penalty against the wind, but were only 6-3 down after some solid defending.
With the wind in the second half Leigh began to dominate and took the lead with a Philip Hewitt try, which Bullough converted.
Leigh's pack pushed over from a five metre scrum for a Marsh touch down. Bullough again added the extra two points.
Aldwinians rallied and scored a late consolation try.
