TWO local businessmen have played Father Christmas - by bringing a tree-mendous boost to shops on The Rock, Bury.
Fred Bowen and Vic Graham put their hands in their pockets to sponsor a 50ft high Christmas tree which now takes pride of place in the popular thoroughfare.
Mr Bowen, who runs the Cornmarket restaurant in Bury, is president of the town's thriving Chamber of Trade while Mr Graham runs his own wholesale potatoes company in Tottington.
Both are hopeful the new festive attraction will help boost trading in the area during the run-up to Christmas.
The Christmas tree has been decorated with colourful seasonal lights.
