A Christmas appeal to bring toys to needy children and teenagers has been launched by social services.
Last year's appeal meant hundreds of children in the borough received new and second-hand presents.
Bosses hope for a generous response this year as, with toys being expensive, more youngsters might go without.
Mr Alan Wilson, Seedfield co-ordinator for social services, said: "Children in need always feel their deprivation most at Christmas time.
"As it is a time for giving, we hope that people will remember the less fortunate."
Soft toys are not needed: the department has surplus stock from last year. But presents for older children and teenagers are particularly welcome.
Anyone wishing to donate a toy should leave it at the Seedfield Resource Centre in Parkinson Street, Bury, or contact Mr Wilson on 253 6850 for him to make arrangements to pick it up.
