THE HIGH-flying 316 (Leigh) Squadron of the Air training Corps scooped the Merseyside wing's top community award.
At the annual ground training competition at RAF Sealand Air Commadore Jon Ford, AOC ATC, presented the George Wood Memorial Sword to proud Cadet Warrant Officer Vicky Parkinson .
Between May 1996 and February 1997 the Leigh cadets attended 18 community events over and above their regular cadet commitments which include twice weekly meetings, camps and training exercises.
And the hard-working squadron is well on the way to retaining the trophy for next year!
The Leigh squadron is still seeking ex-forces personnel to join as volunteer civilian instructors. Anyone interested in helping or prospective cadets should attend the Windermere Road HQ between 7pm-9pm on Tuesdays or Thursdays.
