A GRANDMOTHER who went to bingo expecting to take home a free teddy bear ended up winning nearly £100,000.
Dora Bibby, 84, went to the Mecca on Talbot Road, Blackpool, on Monday night, after being persuaded by friend Barbara Dalziel who heard they were giving away vouchers for musical teddy bears.
At the end of the night she was shocked enough to find out she had won the regional game and would be taking home a prize of £3,000.
But there was a greater surprise in store for Dora - she had also won the National Bingo Game worth a whopping £95,000 as well as the house prize of £217.48.
She said: "First I found out I had won the regional game. I was just trying to come to terms with winning £3,000 when my friend said I had won the national game too. I just couldn't take it all in."
Although Dora has been playing for the past 20 years, she had never had a big win and usually attended the afternoon sessions.
"It's wonderful really. I went along for a teddy bear for my friend's granddaughter and got £98,000 instead."
She said that she would be sharing her win equally with Barbara. As for her share of the win, she said: "I haven't a clue how I will spend it. I'm 84 years old and I have never wanted a lot of money.
"I'm quite happy to let my friend have half of it and to share the rest with my family. I certainly won't be going on some sunshine holiday."
