BURNLEY manager Chris Waddle will be hoping for better times ahead after another tough week at the Burnley helm.
Despite winning 2-1 at home to Northampton on Saturday, Waddle threatened to resign unless the boo-boys start getting behind the team.
Throughout the game, large chunks of the crowd singled out striker Lee Howey for abuse. Although Waddle admitted Howey missed some sitters, he accused the critics of trying to make the decisions for him.
Waddle also added he was disturbed by the fact John Gayle, one of Northampton's strikers, got the biggest cheer of the day when he mistimed his shot and went wide.
For Burnley, who are still on the look out for reinforcements, such a negative atmosphere could be detrimental when trying to attract possible stars for the future. Just two places off the bottom, Burnley will struggle to sign anyone from a higher division if such verbal abuse becomes the norm.
But just when he thought things couldn't get any worse, his team suffered a demoralising 3-1 defeat away to Bristol City.
After taking the lead early on, the Clarets conceded two goals in the last 20 minutes.
