WHEN it comes to potting the black, snooker fan Peter Mercer is a force to be reckoned with.
The pint-sized 13-year-old is the youngest ever player in the Clitheroe and District Senior Snooker League.
The Ribblesdale High School pupil, who lives in Chaigley, was snapped up by the snooker team at Low Moor Club, which plays in Division Two, after his talent was spotted at one of the club's sports sessions for youngsters.
Club steward Mick Moss-Blundell, who helps to run the team, said Peter was a very good snooker player and destined for the top. He put his prowess on the table down to excellent potting and a good eye for the ball.
"He might be small but he is very confident and we certainly have high hopes for him," the steward said.
The club runs sessions for youngsters in darts and snooker on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 7 to 8pm.
