FOREIGN Secretary, Robin Cook, said recently he is in favour of the European Union being enlarged. And, indeed, there are a number of smaller countries which would have to be accepted.
That is because they would benefit from large hand-outs which would help their ailing economies.
Britain, one of the highest contributors to the European Union, will have to fork out even more money.
While Mr Cook is striving to make his mark on the world scene, he should not do it at the expense of the British people who already see far too much of their money being directed to the EU.
Coun D PEARSON, Rawstorne Street, Blackburn.
