CHRIS Waddle hinted today that he is considering a recall for striker Andy Cooke in tomorrow's crunch Second Division game against Wigan Athletic at Turf Moor.

It is the first home game for Burnley since the war of words between Waddle and the Burnley fans but the player-manager hopes that the dust has now finally settled on that.

And he wants everyone at the club to pull together to try and claim what would be a vital victory.

With Neil Moore expected back in training today, after recovering from a knee injury, Waddle expects to have a full squad to choose from and he may make the odd change from the team beaten 3-1 by Bristol City in the last match.

It is in attack where the obvious question mark lies. Lee Howey was the main victim of the crowd's displeasure against Northampton and he could be set to make way for Cooke tomorrow - though Waddle's decision would be based purely on how he feels Burnley can best win the match.

"Everybody knows our situation with regard to buying players, so we have to work with what we have got," he said.

"Sometimes you have to juggle things around and change can get players going.

"But I haven't decided anything yet, I'll wait and see.

"Lee has done okay, Paul Barnes has done well in the last couple of games and Andy Cooke has been patient but is looking very sharp again.

"I'll have to weigh up the opposition and what they would not like us to do." It is a big game for Burnley, as victory could see them make significant progress in the table.

"We could jump above Wigan and if other results went well we could climb three or four places," said the manager.

"What happened (against Northampton) is history now. Some of the supporters seemed to be ruffled by what I said, some seemed to agree. It's been quite interesting to see the reaction.

"You are never going to please everybody but the object is for everybody to pull together. I would like to think the fans will be behind the team and I hope that will be the case.

"We have to keep a calm head and with their support we can progress.

"Hopefully, it can be quickly.

"We all know the situation about buying and selling, we ain't doing a Fulham. We have to work with what we have got and the job is going to take time."

Former Burnley star Brendan O'Connell has been ruled out of a return to Turf Moor, after being admitted to hospital with a blood clot in his leg. That stemmed from a knock he picked up in last Saturday's FA Cup win over York but Deehan was also left with a legacy of injury problems following the midweek victory over Lincoln in the Auto Windscreens Shield Trophy. Striker Graeme Jones, due to start a three-match ban after the Burnley game, scored both Wigan's goals in a 2-0 win but it was achieved at a cost.

"I am still enthusiastic and enjoying the job but like everyone else I get frustrated at times.

"We are not moving as quick as I would like, or the fans would like. It's frustrating for us all but, on the day, we have proved we can beat anybody in this league."

Burnley look set to choose from: Beresford, Brass, Blatherwick, Moore, Vinnicombe, Waddle, Harrison, Ford, Weller, Barnes, Howey, Matthew, Cooke, Cowans, Smith.

Wigan's problems have mounted this week, leaving manager John Deehan scratching around for players.

Gavin Johnson, Scott Green, Roy Carroll and Colin Greenall are all doubtful for tomorrow's game.

Wigan delayed naming their squad but young striker Paul Warne has forced himself into contention.
