HUNDREDS of East Lancashire mill workers were forced to dice with death at their machines, it was claimed.
"Victorian" safety levels in factories throughout the area could kill, a top union official warned.
Paul Hoggarth of the General Municipal and Boilermakers Union blasted Blackburn, which had 15 mills, for having the worst safety record in the North West.
