THE Government would have to introduce a new national strategy to tackle "appalling and unacceptable" levels of car crime which were reaching epidemic proportions, Shadow Home Secretary Tony Blair said.
Unveiling a Labour Party survey - Putting the Brakes on Car Crime - at Westminster, Mr Blair said more than 1.5 million car crimes were committed in 1991, up 156% since 1979.
