A SMOKING ban by Pendle Council is set to be extended to more areas.
At present the authority's no-smoking policy only relates to offices and administrative buildings.
Now councillors are being recommended to extend the policy to cover workshops, canteens and muster room.
The move, which will mean manual as well as administrative staff are covered by the ban, is set to be agreed by the council's personnel sub-committee on Thursday. It follows six months of negotiations with trade unions and staff representatives who requested the policy be extended.
If the committee agrees the extended ban will come into effect on January 1.
