BUILDING work on two new schools in East Lancashire has been given the go-ahead.
St Mary's RC Primary School, Padiham is to get £200,000 next year for a new school to replace antiquated premises - among the worst in the county.
And St Christophers CE High School in Accrington is to get £100,000 to start work on two classrooms, a science lab and an extension to the library.
St Mary's head teacher Christina Bradley said: "We are absolutely delighted because we have been campaigning for a new school for years.
"The present school is three terraced houses knocked through. It's not suitable accommodation for this century."
