AT LAST, fairness and common sense prevail with an end to the injustice of Lancashire's taxpayers being saddled every year with the huge bill for policing the political conferences at Blackpool.
The Tories, when they were in government, resolutely refused to give Lancashire extra money.
Yet, the award of a £750,000 grant towards security costs for their Blackpool conference last October and, now, confirmation by Home Secretary Jack Straw that a similar grant will be made for the policing of Labour's gathering there next year makes it clear that the unfair imposition on Lancashire is ended at last.
