ANIMAL lover Irene Allen is pleading with dog owners to make sure their pets carry proper identification tags.
Petsearch UK volunteer Irene spent a frustrating two hours trying to find the owner of a lost Jack Russell terrier which had been seen wandering in the Nel Pan Lane area of Leigh.
Irene told The Journal after taking the dog to Leigh Police Station:"The dog had been well looked-after and was wearing a collar and lead so had obviously gone missing.
"Unfortunately the collar had no address or telephone number engraved on it.
"Someone was obviously frantic worrying about it. Having an address on the collar would have prevented that."
