Widnes Albion 34 Parr Hare and Hounds 4 A DEPLETED Hounds side produced a display full of character against the league leaders.
The Widnes side used their big forwards to good effect in the first period and raced into an early 12-nil lead.
And although Hounds enjoyed a period of pressure on the Albion line, they conceded two more converted tries and a penalty to trail 26-nil at the break.
Hounds continued to compete after the break, but Albion grabbed another try.
However, Hounds went close on several occasions before they were rewarded when Ian Sherwood forced his way over.
Hounds restricted their opponents to one more try as they were well served by Marsh, Dugdale, Lawrenson, Gary Jackson, Knapper, Corrigan, Burrows and Meadows.
