Christmas Day promises to be a festive affair for lonely people in Higher Folds.
Instead of staying 'Home Alone', they are being invited to join in festive fare at St Gabriel's Annexe, Kensington Drive, from 11.30am to 3.30pm.
There will also be entertainment, drinks, music and even a raffle.
The estate's Home Alone Scheme hopes to stop people living on their own becoming cut off from the festivities, and offers them the chance to make friends.
Co-ordinator Megan Healey said: "We will be pleased to see anyone who is alone on Christmas Day and living in the Higher Folds area. We have been given a grant from Coalfield Challenge and many of the local supermarkets and businesses have contributed.
"We have also been given a generous donation by Leigh Rotary Club and are hoping to cater for at least 30 people from all walks of life.
"It would be helpful for administration and catering purposes if people could ring us but people who simply turn up on the day will not be turned away."
Anyone wanting to book a place should ring Megan on 01942 683554, Betty on 01942 261602 or Fr. Gagie on 01942 672096.
