LOOKING through The Journal last week, I couldn't help smile at the article by Brian Gomm about the book which Dennis Sweeney has written on the Lancashire railways, especially the Parsonage Colliery.
Yes, I remember it well. As a girl working at J&J Hayes' cotton mill we used to go for a little walk in our dinner hour and crossed over the line and down the underground.
There we met the boys who were on the dole and had a chat to them. Happy days, never to return.
I wonder if there are any operatives still living who can recall those days?
