A FORMER police chief from Lostock Hall, Preston, has died following a motorbike accident at the weekend.
Brian Sanderson, 53, died in Chorley Hospital after losing control of his 1100cc BMW Belmont bike on Rivington Lane, Rivington.
He retired from Lancashire Constabulary in September 1993 when he was Chief Superintendant of Chorley division. He also worked in Skelmersdale, Preston, Lancaster, Fulwood and Widnes.
Leading the tributes, Deputy Chief Constable of Lancashire Police, Gerry O'Connell, said: "Mr Sanderson was a very distinguished and senior police officer who gave years of dedicated service to the people of Lancashire. He will be sadly missed by many friends and former colleagues."
Police are appealing for witnesses to the accident which happened at about 12.20pm on Sunday (December 14). It is believed no other vehicles were involved. Anyone with information should call Chorley Police on 01257 269021.
