A political row over selling a plot of land has led to a censure threat for Pendle from the Department of the Environment.
The row concerns land at the corner of Vivary Way and Crown Way, Colne.
The DoE says the council should sell land it does not need to bring in some cash, and to sell it quickly for the best possible price.
The land currently has planning permission for a vets' practice, with the resultant market value of £90,000.
But Labour councillors says the land could be worth more and should be put back on the market.
Other interest has come from the burger-chain McDonald's, which offered £200,000 but only on condition it gets planning permission. Its plans were turned down by Pendle Council and have now gone to appeal. It could be more than 12 months before a decision is announced.
