LEIGH RU have reached the semi-final of the Lancashire Trophy.
And success was even sweeter with the quarter-final 10-7 win against the old enemy of Wigan.
In a tight first-half Ross Bullough banged over the only points. Wigan edged clear with a try and goal, but Bullough spotted his chance to flash in under the sticks and convert for a thrilling win.
The previous day Leigh lost 29-12 at Caldy in a league encounter, Bullough and Ross Fletcher bagging the tries.
Minis & Juniors: U12s beat Sedgeley Park 21-14 (Paul Morgan, Patrick Walton, Matthew Ashbrook); U11s lost 33-5 to Sedgeley Park (Crompton); U10s lost 30-15 to Sedgeley Park (Ian Pirrie, Thomas Leake 2); U9s lost 15-5 to Sedgeley Park (Harrison); U8s beat Sedgeley Park 35-25 (Alex Marrow 5, Davis Sale, Martyn Hall); U7s beat Sedgeley Park 20-10 (Christopher Marron, Gavin Critchley, Daniel Tustin, Sam Horry).
ATHERTON RU lost 17-7 to Sedgeley Park, Mark Hoggitt scoring the solitary try, Martin Cleary goaling. Good efforts from the Sutton brothers, Martin Hilton and Jonathon Day.
