THEY think it's all over. It is now! Leigh MR lost 20-19 at Oldham St Annes - after leading 19-14 on the 80-minute mark.
Those final, fateful four minutes of injury-time cost Miners dear.
They looked in charge until those final cruel seconds of a dramatic and supercharged encounter.
Miners edged ahead on two Mick Warburton drops and Winston Sarsfield's long-range penalty. But the Saints went clear before Tony Dowling sent Paul Shepherd away, and the winger did well to weave his way in, Sarsfield adding the goal.
And they stretched the lead when Neil McColloch bounded over from a short kick, Sarsfield again on target.
Back came Saints. But Sarsfield added more points with a drop and penalty.
Despite heroics at the back from Peter Sharp, the stage was set for that astonishing climax: a try in the corner, goaled from the touchline. Breathtaking!
LEIGH EAST U10s beat Leigh Rangers 24-18 (L Balmer 2, S O'Brien, R Ainscough).
