A BILLINGE woman is in a critical condition in a Wigan hospital as the Star went to press, after sustaining head injuries in a road accident.
The accident happened at 6.30pm on Tuesday when 50 year old Jacqueline Brennan and her 23 year old step-daughter, Tracy Lyon, both of Paignton Close in Billinge, were out walking their dog. As they crossed Upholland Road by the junction with Longshaw Common, a Vauxhall Cavalier collided with Mrs Brennan before crashing into a garden wall.
Mrs Brennan was rushed to Wigan Royal Hospital where she was found to have sustained head and other injuries including fractures. Her step-daughter suffered minor injuries. The driver of the Cavalier, Ian Wane (50) of Robywell Way, Billinge, was treated for a hand injury. The dog was unharmed.
